About

The purpose of this blog is for you to get to know me and what inspires me to create art.  It also aspires to inspire you to be creative, to bring you a small taste of fashion, art, music, dance, writing, reading and culture in general wrapped up in a small daily dose so that you never go too long without.  I hope that by following my blog you are inclined to collect art, read a book, try a new recipe, travel to a new place, download a new song and dance, or at the very least start making plans to do so.
So where to start?  Well let’s just do this thing, here is the All About Me Section!
Rikki Sneddon born 1988.  currently resides in central Minnesota U.S.A (but dreams of a beach bungalow in some southern hemisphere location, to be decided).  I create in my home studio.  I began focusing on painting about three years ago after editing my creative pursuits.  I was always interested in arts and crafts since I was young and I briefly attended the local Technical College for design.  I soon discovered that it was not the direction I wanted to go and withdrew.   I worked with my drawing skills for some time after that and one day I decided to try my hand at a painting, fell in love and never stopped.
I opened my shop Sneddon Studios on Etsy and in August 2012 it was discovered by Timmery Turner of the Sugar Art and Fashion Show.  She invited me to participate in their production for New York City Fashion Week, Sugar Unchained.
New York Fahion Week Event with Sugar Art & Fashion show.

I was able to send two of my original paintings and they were shown at the Cellar Bar in the Bryant Park Hotel NYC.  Timmery purchased both pieces for her personal collection.
Due to my exposure from the event I was honored to receive an article in the local paper.  I was also recently featured on a Postcards segment about Area Artists on the local television station PPT.  This year  I also Exhibited at my first solo show in May 13 where my collection Bloom made it’s debut. Currently I amnominated for Rawards Minneapolis Artist of the Year.nominated_art
My recent work is focused on portrait and figure, mixed media paintings.  I also spend time in the studio painting custom portraits for clients.  My paintings are full of color and intrigue.  The subjects and titles to the works are chosen to evoke beauty and a sense of travel and adventure, the burst of excitement at discovery.
Through this blog I hope to be made known to you better, to give you a glance inside where my art comes from, and to get to know you, my readers, fans and collectors better!
