Painting Edges
After competing in Rawards this past week I have been letting myself rest creatively. I feel these 'rests' are an important part of my creative life. Most people view it as a break from work but I see it more as a recharge. When I expend so much energy during busy times such as this past month I can really feel my creativity start to suffer if I keep pushing myself. I then feel my work begins to feel forced and suffer as well. The breaks from creating and painting need not be long, most often a week or less. sometimes I will just work on another project that doesn't involve painting such as crochet (I like scarves) Today I have time to be in the studio but still want to give myself a little more resting time. On days like these I find 'busy work' that doesn't pull on my creativity, such as cleaning the studio, updating my portfolio, or my favorite painting edges of canvas.
