Collector DIY
This morning I woke up to a lovely surprise from a collector of mine. She had recently received an embellished print of my painting Ponder, as the winner of my most recent contest. She sent me these photos of the print hanging in her apartment!
She found this frame for $5 at a local dollar shop! It had originally contained a different image, which she removed and replaced with her new print. |

DIY paper envelopes...
Today I spent a few hours working on the handmade paper envelopes I am making to send out to all of my collectors from the past year. I plan on slipping a little thank you note, as well as some exclusive deals for them to say thanks for supporting me over the past year. I wanted to do something a little more special than a plain white envelope, also I want it stand out in the mail....and I have a small love affair with pretty paper!
Trace and cut out the template and then simply refold your paper into an envelope, then use a sticker to seal it before you send!
All you need is some pretty paper, I use scrapbooking paper, a scissor, a paper envelope to use as a template and some glue, I use mod podge and apply it with a brush. |
I use labels so that you can see the address easily |

Weekend reading...
Just finished the Novel Hotel Pastis by Peter Mayle. I enjoyed it, as many of his other writings, A Good Year is another of my favorites. His novels focus on life in France or Provence, or Paris and are filled with wine, food and french vocabulary. A good way to transport yourself somewhere else this weekend...
What Novels have you enjoyed this winter?

Comfort comes in a bowl
Todays post is to share this amazing recipe I tried last night
This is an Indian dish, if you have never tried red lentils, don't miss out! They are super easy to cook and are very inexpensive, usually around $2 a bag. This soup was exactly what I've been needing since I've had this crummy cold. Its super comforting and warm perfect for a winter night, I also tried a new naan recipe which was fantastic. It is a simplified naan so you don't need any yeast or much rise time. Here are links to both recipes, I highly suggest you give them a try ;) Stay warm & enjoy!

Naughty Habit
So since it has been so frigid cold for so long, I've been spending a lot of time inside. Most days i need a pretty convincing cup of coffee to lure me out of bed in the morning. I have been developing a nasty habit of amping up my normal brew with a scoop or two of espresso grounds. It makes for a much stronger and richer cup of joe in a regular sized cup, espresso cups are finished too quickly!
What gets you out of bed in the morning? Any naughty habits you've been hiding when it comes to your morning cup of joe? Favorite drink recipe?

2013 in review
2013 came with many goals.
After reading a blog post from Alyson B. Stanfield of I’d rather be in
the studio, I sat down and constructed a list. She stressed the importance of going back and
making another list, today, the first day of the New Year! Today’s list will help you see all that
you accomplished during the previous year down in writing and hopefully inspire
you to do even better this year. So here
is my list of all that was done in 2013….
Began painting commissioned portraits for clients
Received an article in the local paper highlighting my Art
Was featured on PPT postcards segment (aired 3.31.13)
Held my first Solo Exhibition BLOOM
Exhibited in Minneapolis at the Sugar Art and Fashion Show
Exhibited at Minneapolis RAW En Masse
Joined a local Arts board
Was nominated for RAW Minneapolis Artist of the Year
Exhibited at the RAWARDS Semi-Finals Event in Minneapolis
Had my own Mini store with a fellow Artist at the shopping mall
through the holidays
Stared my blog Rikki Sneddon Art
Reached over 500 fans on facebook
Was published in Issue #1 of Philly based NUMINOUS Magazine
So that’s it, my Art Year in Review! It was a busy crazy exciting year full of new
opportunities and people. I am so glad I
got to share it with my friends, family and all of you! I can’t wait to see what is in store for
this coming year! What were some of your
highlights from the past year? Do you
have a list of sorts that you use from year to year?
